Creamy Instant Pot Steel-Cut Oatmeal

This Creamy Instant Pot Steel Cut Oatmeal takes just 4 minutes to cook and is heart-healthy. This is a great breakfast option for busy mornings and meal preparation.


  • 2 cups Steel-Cut Oats
  • 5-6 cups non-dairy milk or water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


  • Stir the liquid, Oats, and Salt into the Instant Pot. Turn off the Instant Pot’s heat and close the lid.
  • After 4 minutes, press “Stop/Cancel” to immediately turn off the Instant pot (do NOT leave it on Keep Warm) and allow the pressure to naturally release for 20 more minutes.
  • Turn the pressure valve on Venting, open the lid and stir the Oats to distribute the liquid evenly. There may still be some liquid left over. You can serve as you like. Leftovers can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week and can be reheated.


My preference is to use a 50-50 mixture of Non-Dairy milk to water. However, you can adjust the ratio to make your Oatmeal creamier or less creamy. You can make thicker Oats by using 5 cups of liquid. If you prefer thinner Oats, you can use 6 cups.


Chocolate Raspberry Oatmeal can be made by adding 1 tbsp Cacao powder and 1 tbsp Maple Syrup to your bowl of Oatmeal. Then top it with fresh or frozen Raspberries


Strawberry Banana Oatmeal can be made by adding 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon to your Oatmeal. Then top it with Banana slices or fresh Strawberries.


Chunky Monkey Oatmeal can be made with 1 sliced banana, 2 tablespoons chopped Walnuts and 1 tbsp Dairy-Free Chocolate Chips.
